The United States has a long history of bearing arms, reaching the periods of the declaration of its nation's independance. Guns have been the symbol of American's freedom, and that's the main reason why Americans are so obseesed with guns. Without guns, they consider as if their long history and sense of independance cease to exist. However, long years of legalization of guns have aroused some critical problems that have now become the major evidence that the dissenters stand on. It has been a controversial topic in the United States for many years now, on whether or not guns should be illegalized. So I will introduce the pros and cons of bearing arms.
First, the advocates of guns insist on the importance of rights. People insist that it was their given right by their founding fathers, and claim that those decisions were meticulously talked over when they wrote the American Constitution. This is what they have been asserting, "Although it would seem to be an extreme rare case, our constitution guarantees that right, and it could still be necessary in the case of an uncontrollable dictatorial government. In addition, every person should have the right to protect themselves, their families and property against criminals and intruders. The unlawful of our country will get arms via the blackmarket. If they were aware that most people carried a weapon, there would be less crime, not more." Second, American citizens focus on the importance of protecting themselves. This is what the Americans say, "We should not keep guns away from good Americans but rather out of the hands of the mentally insane. I think that we should do better background checks when an individual decides to buy a firearm especially an assault rifle like the AR-15. If a person wishes to do harm to another individual then that person will find other ways to deal that harm. Getting rid of guns will not help America, it would make us weaker."
Next, on the side of the dissenters, first, people insist that the crime rates excessibly serious, and the benefits people ern because of the guns aren't enough to compensate for the rising annual deaths. People said, "In the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects the rights of individuals to keep and bear arms. In 2010 alone guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicide and unintentional shooting. This is almost 85 deaths per day, maybe even 3 per hour or less. Over 1,300 victims of unintentional shootings for the period of 2005-2010 were under the age 25. 8% of shootings That resulted in death were from shot fired by children, teens, even some the age of six. I strongly disagree people shouldn’t have the right to bear arm." Second, some people maintain that a gun is made to kill, not protect civilians. One said, "A gun is made to kill. There is no more to it. So why should civilians be given objects made to kill? Thousands die every year, and still people support this? The people who support the right to bear arms also, in parallel, support gun violence / killings and so on."
To sum up, it is best to negotiate on the harms and goods that the guns affect on American civilians and decide wisely.
