Because most of Filipinos are Catholic. But some Filipinos like to get married in civil wedding cause it’s cheaper, faster and more convenient alternative to church wedding. Or most of Filipinos get married in civil wedding first cause of money problem and then get married in the church. If you’re planning to get married in the Philippines, there are few requirements you need to know. Marrying parties should be a male and a female, at least 18 years old and above. And if you and your partner are 25 years and below, a parental consent or advice is needed. It's almost impossible to get married that quickly for foriegner. You will need an appointment with your embassy to receive a capacity to marry license. Even if you are not a foreigner, it's highly unlikely that you can get married in only 6 days. It normally takes 10-14 days for the government office to release the marriage license.
Applying for marriage license, you need a certification of true copy of each party’s birth certificate. It is issued in the National Statistics Office (NSO). And certification of attendance in a pre-material counseling and responsible parenthood seminar, usually conducted by the health department of the city/municipal hall where the couple applied for the license. Once the marriage license is issued, the couple will need to comply with other requirements as prescribed by the church where they have opted to get married in. A marriage certificate is an important document containing details of your marriage, signed by the couple and witnesses or all in attendance. You can obtain this document usually 1 to 2 months after the wedding ceremony.
It shall be the duty of the contracting parties to accomplish four copies of the application for Marriage License for registration. After the registration, the civil registrar shall distribute copies of the document bearing the civil registry number as follows. First copy to the registrant , second copy to the Office of the Civil Registrar-General, third copy shall be retained for his file and four copy to the solemnizing office.
