Ban says "success within reach" regarding UN global development goals

UN report said that "Poverty has plummeted, health has begun to improve and literacy has soared."

That's what UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, told participants at a High Level forum on the Millennium Development Goals or MDGs. The MDGs were launched in 2000 in New York during the UN General Assembly debate.
Now, thirteen years later, Mr. Ban reports that success in many areas and in many countries is within reach.

The year 2015 is the deadline set by world leaders to eliminate extreme poverty and diseases. There are now 829 days left to achieve these goals.
